From Andy DuBois:
"Record growth challenges each city, county, and state government to responsibly manage this surge. Elected officials must exercise prudence and courage to ensure unprecedented growth provides and protects infrastructure, all while preserving that which attracts the Florida lifestyle, quality of life, culture, and environment to so many, for both current and future generations.
Join me in defending our natural beauty and abundant resources from potential abuse by those who willingly or unwillingly could diminish the value of our most precious treasure, rural Florida."

Defending Rural Florida is a statewide political committee dedicated to electing leaders who will safeguard the state’s rural lands, agricultural heritage, and natural resources.
We support and oppose candidates based solely on their willingness to stand firm against policies and development pressures that threaten farms, ranches, open spaces, and the character of our rural communities. Our mission is to ensure that voters have strong, principled champions who will defend rural Florida where it matters most—at the ballot box.
What We Do
• Support and oppose candidates whose actions and values align—or conflict—with the protection of rural and agricultural lands, food security, and the preservation of Florida’s natural landscape.
• Educate voters on where candidates stand on critical issues affecting rural communities, including growth management, conservation, and the protection of working lands.
• Provide timely election-focused updates, including candidate analyses, issue alerts, and voter information to keep Floridians informed before they cast their ballots.
• Hold elected officials accountable by tracking their voting records and public positions and ensuring voters know who is truly standing up for rural Florida.
• Defend communities from harmful development interests by supporting candidates who will resist policies that fuel sprawl, degrade natural resources, or undermine agricultural livelihoods.
By focusing our efforts on elections and candidate accountability, we aim to ensure that Florida’s rural lands and way of life are protected for generations to come.

Passing sound legislation is impossible without lawmakers who believe in responsible growth and land stewardship. Winning those policy battles begins long before any bill is filed—it starts with identifying strong candidates early and ensuring they understand the urgent need to preserve Florida’s remaining rural and environmentally sensitive lands.

To help voters clearly understand where candidates stand, we will soon launch the Defending Rural Florida Candidate Questionnaire. This tool will outline key issues facing rural communities, agricultural lands, and natural areas. Candidate responses will reveal who is genuinely committed to protecting Florida’s land, water, and heritage for generations to come.
As responses come in, we will publish them on DefendingRuralFlorida.org so voters can compare candidates and make informed decisions. The questionnaire will be open to candidates of any party—or no party at all—who are seeking to represent Floridians and the places we call home.

Once the 2026 legislative session concludes, we will release a detailed Legislative Scorecard evaluating how lawmakers voted on the most critical bills affecting rural Florida, agricultural lands, and conservation.
This scorecard will provide a clear and factual record of who fought to protect our state’s land and heritage—and who sided with the special interests fueling rampant, irresponsible growth.
The Scorecard will be posted on our website, giving voters an easy way to see how their legislators performed and to use that information as they prepare for the 2026 elections.
